Many heroines at that time didn’t want to work with the newcomer Sunil Shetty which delayed the project for a while. Eventually, Late Divya Bharti accepted the role which proved to be a fruitful one. The film performed decently at the Box Office which launched a firm platform for Shetty to succeed in the industry. He got his image developed as an action hero which later stuck with him for further more years.

The next two years were gold in terms of popularity garnered by Sunil Shetty. He enjoyed tremendous success from 1993 to 1994 with back to back hits at the Box Office. All of these films were action movies where Shetty played the lead role of male protagonist. He featured in Mohra which tends to be one of the biggest hits of his career. The year 2000 brought a new dimension to Sunil Shetty’s career.  He first appeared in Hera Pheri which required him to step out of his comfort zone and enter the new realm of comedy. Hera Pheri proved to be one of the biggest hits of the decade. Shetty paired up with Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal to give the audience one of the best comedy films to ever grace the industry. Till date, very few comedy films have achieved what Hera Pheri did with its immaculate humor and comic timing.

Shetty followed it up with another hit film titled Dhadkan. He then later advised his friend to organize a get to gather after which he and Mana went for a motor cycle ride in the wee hours of the night. The couple realized that the cupid had struck them and both the young souls had fallen for each other.

However, their parents didn’t approve of their relationship as there were huge cultural differences that had to be figured out. Mana being from a Punjabi Hindu Family and Sunil being a Tulu, parents from both the sides took a long and hard time to give a green signal for their relationship. After a long hiatus of 10 years, their parents finally approved, and the couple decided to marry the same year before their parents could change their minds.

The couple tied the knot officially in 1991 in a private ceremony. Sunil Shetty hadn’t made a debut until then in the Bollywood. Hence, the marriage didn’t attract any media attention at all. According to Shetty, it was a 10-day long ceremony. A year later, the couple was blessed with a baby girl whom they named Athiya. Athiya Shetty is now an upcoming actress in the Bollywood with a couple of big banner releases already to her name. Shetty family was blessed with the second child, Ahaan in 1996. It is said that Ahaan will make a debut under Sajid Nadiadwala’s banner.

Sunil Shetty is an established entrepreneur and has hotel chains and clothing boutiques all over the country. Apart from his business endeavors, he has more than a century of movies to his name. Also, he owes a production house which has been responsible for releasing more than 7 movies under its banner. Therefore, capital isn’t a problem for Shetty who is now fairly inactive in the B-Town with very occasional big screen releases.

The estimated net worth of Sunil Shetty is calculated at $10 million. It is quite obvious for a businessman like Shetty to have a staggering bank account and proprietorship. It is believed that the actor charges around 2-3 crore rupees per film. Also, he is the brand ambassador of few nationalized companies which add to his entire net value. He appears in several advertisements which are responsible for adding numbers to his saving bank accounts.

Hardly any controversies!

Sunil Shetty maintains a pretty clean slate in terms of being involved in any sort of controversies. Neither he was involved in any of the heroines, nor has his personal family matters came in acquaintance with the media which gave very less to almost no fodder for the paparazzi to write about him. He is a person who rates family before work and was quite adamant about working on Sundays. No doubt there were so many fewer hits in a blusterous career that lasted for more than 2 decades.

Once, Sunil Shetty was interrogated at the US Airport just after the 9/11 attacks. He was under the radar because of the gown beard he had maintained for a role in his next film, Kaante. He was then left free after Shetty told him that he is an actor in India and had the beard done for his next role. Apart from that, he has hardly been in any news that has created a stir in the media.
