The super cute actress hails from an out and out a military background. Her father, Durganand Zinta was a military officer while her mother, Nilprabha was a homemaker. Preity was born on 31st January 1975 in a Rohru-based family of the Shimla district. She recollects of being a complete tomboy during the majority of her childhood days. She completed her schooling from the Convent of Jesus Mary boarding school in the Shimla district.
