Genelia was born on 5th August 1985 in Bandra. She was nicknamed Geenu by her parents. She was raised in a typical Catholic setting in Bandra. She speaks Konkani at home with her family. Genelia completed her schooling from the Apostolic Carmel High School in Bandra and then moved to St. Andrew’s College to complete her degree in management studies.
She received her first film offer while she was in college. She had to juggle past the movie schedule and studies in the last year of the academics. She was keen to join an MNC on completing her educational degree but the glamor of the B-Town attracted her to become an actress. As a kid, she was very good at sports and studies.
